Our Family History

Welcome to my Jones history website. This has been and continues to be a labour of love researching my family history, especially with a surname like Jones. As you can imagine, there’s an awful lot of data to go through and together with the help of my wife, Debbie, I have spent close to 20 years in libraries, archives, graveyards and most of mid and south Wales! We have traced back to 1777 and the Parish of Llanfighangel y Creuddyn. After many years of research and the way in which records were kept in Wales, I doubt that we’ll get any further back.

Use the person index to browse through our Joneses

You can search through the files using the Person Index. There are no details of any living family members in the database. There is still a lot of work to do on this website, so far it has been quite a technical challenge setting up the database and getting it to behave. I’m sure you’ll appreciate my hard work!

I did start a website back in 1999 when the internet was still in its infancy. I think it’s a great way of sharing our history with anyone who is interested and may even be able to help fill all the missing gaps. Back then it was easy to register a domain name, and I have kept the Jones History domain ever since, paying its renewal fee annually. I have been offered over a thousand pounds for it, but as far as I’m concerned, it’s staying here, where it belongs.

So that’s it from me for now. I hope you enjoy your visit and of course, if you can offer any help with data, photographs or anything of use that can be transferred digitally, please do so, it’ll be very much appreciated. Thank you.
